How to Make the Most of the New LinkedIn Update and its New Features

Over the last month you may have noticed the cleaner look to the LinkedIn interface and the new features that have appeared within this new makeover. However, this isn’t just a small change - the upgrade has created a faster, smoother, easier-to-navigate site with a layout very similar to that of Facebook. So, what are the main changes and enhanced features you really need to know about? Here are a couple of the best bits about the new upgrade to ensure you and your business are making the most of LinkedIn:1/ The LinkedIn messenger features have leaned more towards the Facebook Messenger in appearance. But, the best part for us is the suggested responses feature to InMail (available on premium). This means you can very quickly get back to people with an automated response letting them know if you are interested or not. This response can be edited to make the message more personalised.

2/ The new interface now puts high quality content and the feed front and centre. A brand’s most popular and exciting content will appear first, helping create experiences where members engage more deeply and are more likely to return.3/ LinkedIn now works a lot better with its mobile application. Although the LinkedIn app has always had a similar look to the upgrade, it made the PC version look old and out of date. Now that they both align perfectly with each other's formats and features, it is so much easier to use on the go and switch between platforms when necessary.

4/ Generally, LinkedIn is now more intuitive to use whether you have been a member from its inception or are just thinking of joining now. It is easier to see how many followers each account has even if you are scrolling through your news feed. Additionally, the name of the creator of an article will automatically be joined by their number of followers, making it easier to find content that is popular and legitimate. Everyday actions are also easier to find: if you want to share a profile, remove a connection, block or report someone, unfollow someone, or request a recommendation, it's all up on the top right-hand side - you just have to click on the three little dots.Although the upgrade has significantly changed the look and feel of LinkedIn, and enhanced some specific features, there is no need for businesses to change their approach. If you are regularly updating your account with interesting content, media and events, whilst building up a database of followers and connections, LinkedIn will continue to have a great impact on your business. Uploading interesting and relevant content with links to your site will build your presence online, therefore improving your search engine ranking. The benefits of a broad online presence, whether that be LinkedIn, Facebook, a great website or a well circulated blog, are huge in creating a successful marketing campaign for your business.
