Behind the Scenes of a Content Day: What We Film and Why

When people think of a content day, they often imagine a few polished photos and a couple of videos filmed back-to-back. In reality, the most effective content days are carefully planned, thoughtfully paced, and built around telling a brand’s story in a way that feels natural, credible, and genuinely useful to the audience.

Recently, we spent two full days on-site with Exact Kitchens at their Wokingham showroom, capturing a mix of video and imagery designed to work across their website and social channels. Each day had a different focus, and every piece of content had a clear purpose behind it.

Here’s a look behind the scenes at what we filmed - and why.

Day One: Expert-Led Video Content That Adds Real Value

The first day was all about video. But not the generic, surface-level advice that people scroll straight past.

Instead, we focused on capturing genuine expertise; filming Jason Ivil, Director at Exact Kitchens, walking through the showroom and talking in detail about what really matters when designing a kitchen. From how mood boards shape the look and feel of a space, to the practical considerations behind kitchen islands and breakfast bars, the content was rooted in real-world experience.

This “walk and talk” style allowed Jason to explain design decisions in context, using the showroom displays as visual reference points. It keeps the content engaging while reinforcing Exact’s depth of knowledge - the kind that only comes from decades in the industry.

Alongside the practical advice, we also paid close attention to tone. It was important that the videos didn’t just inform, but also reflected the warmth and approachability of the Exact team. Kitchen design is a personal process, and these videos help potential customers see the people behind the brand, not just the finished spaces.

Day Two: Natural Photography That Feels Human, Not Staged

The second day shifted focus to photography.

We captured a series of relaxed, professional headshots of the team, deliberately avoiding anything too stiff or overly corporate. By using different kitchen backgrounds throughout the showroom, we created a varied image bank that feels consistent but not repetitive - perfect for ongoing use across social media, the website, and marketing materials.

We also photographed Jason and Chay together, capturing more candid, lifestyle-style shots. Talking, laughing, interacting naturally. These images help bring personality into the brand and give context to the expertise shown in the videos. They’re the kind of visuals that make a business feel approachable and trusted, rather than distant or sales-driven.

Why This Mix of Content Matters

By splitting the shoot across two days and clearly defining what we wanted to achieve with each, we were able to create a well-rounded content library that serves multiple purposes.

  • Video content that positions Exact as experts and educates their audience

  • Photography that humanises the brand and builds trust

  • Assets that can be repurposed across social media, the website, and future campaigns

Everything we captured was intentional. Nothing was filmed “just to have something”.

Our Approach to Content Days

At Digity, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all content. Every shoot is planned around the client, their audience, and how the content will actually be used once we leave the site.

For Exact Kitchens, that meant balancing authority with warmth. Showing deep knowledge, without losing the personal, family-run feel that’s been central to their business since day one.

Content days aren’t about creating noise. They’re about creating useful, authentic content that works hard long after it’s been filmed.

If you’re thinking about refreshing your brand visuals or want content that truly reflects how your business works behind the scenes, a well-planned content day is one of the most effective places to start, get in touch to book your 2026 content shoot.
